Tea Tree Allergy Testing

Our team is conducting a study on allergy diagnostic testing. If you have a suspected allergy to tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) you may be a good fit for this project. 

This study evaluates differing methods of testing for tea tree essential oil allergy. Participation involves undergoing patch testing with different forms of tea tree essential oil. As a participant, you will receive free patch testing for your suspected allergy as well as $120 in compensation for your time.

Who can join?

This study is open to healthy adults who have a suspected allergy to tea tree essential oil. To participate, you must be able to attend 3 on-site visits at one of our participating clinics.

What's Involved?

Participation is simple: visit one of our participating clinics for patch testing to evaluate your suspected allergy. This involves 3 visits within a 1 week period, each lasting approximately 15-30 minutes.

Will I be paid?

You will! In addition to receiving FREE clinical patch testing for your suspected allergy, you will receive $40 per visit for a total of $120 after completion of the study. 

 

What are the steps? 

Getting Started

To join the study, complete the form below. Our research team will send you an email with a survey for our team to learn more about your health status. 

If our team decides this study is a good fit, you will be sent a link to schedule a zoom visit with one of our researchers. This visit will take 15-20 minutes. Our team will make sure all your questions are answered. After this visit, we will schedule your 3 on-site visits for the essential oil patch testing.

Get Tested!

Testing will involve three visits during a one-week period. Each visit will take 15-30 minutes.

You'll visit the clinic on Monday to have the patches applied, on Wednesday to have them removed, and again on Friday to have them evaluated.

Payment & Support

Our team is available to you 24/7 during the study. You can reach out at any time with questions.

You will receive $120 for completing the entire study ($40 per visit). 

Compensation is sent via email within 1 week of study completion. You will receive an email gift card voucher which can be redeemed online within 6 months at one of over 100 retailers or for a Visa or MasterCard cash card.

Important Info

The purpose of this study is to evaluate methods of diagnostic testing for tea tree essential oil allergies. The protocol for this trial was developed by clinical aromatherapist and has been evaluated and approved by an independent third-party ethical review board which is accredited by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP). It is conducted in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki, the Belmont Report, the regulations outlined in 45 CFR 46, and ICH GCP E6 (R2). The protocol is also registered at a World Health Organization (WHO) approved clinical trial registry.
